Europe pics - Croatia
Beautiful Croatia - the hidden gem in Europe. I fell in love with Croatia from the minute we sailed into Dubrovnik at sunrise. Although parts of the country are quite poor, the people are so friendly and they take such pride in their homes and their country. Croatia was one of the cleanest countries in Europe - such a nice, refreshing change after dirty Italy. We had about a week here, we made our way north to Zagreb to see family, stopping in Ogulin on the way and also doing a day trip east to Osijeck.
Beautiful Dubrovnik - just look at that clean, shiny marble! This photo was taken in the old town. It's hundreds of years old and it was built out of marble from the surrounding hills.
We enjoyed a sumptious lunch in Dubrovnik - soaking up the warm Adriatic afternoon sunshine (the only day I wore shorts on our whole trip)
View from the walls of the old city, looking towards our room. That's the Adriatic you can see - and it was like glass! And you could see the bottom, as clear as anything.
Tony with old Dubrovnik. Interesting point to note, that island in the background is a national park and has a nudist beach on the far side. It wasn't exactly on our list of hot destinations - especially after seeing some of the locals!
